AM263P4: SysCfg: Default Software Clock configuration in noRTOS cores

Hello,

In our project one of the cores of the AM263P4 is configured as a noRTOS core.

We have noticed however, the software clock configuration in SysCfg, which is supposed to provide ticks to the OS. If I understand correctly this is not useful for a noRTOS core but there is no way for this configuration to be removed.

Is my understanding correct that this is redundant and if so, what would be the recommended way to disable it so that it does not trigger an interrupt?

Hi Manos,

The Clock is required to support ClockP APIs such as ClockP_usleep() when using SysCfg even in a bare metal application.

Thanks Kier,

This makes sense. My next question then is: Is it possible to control this timer's start so that it ticks at a specific phase shift from our scheduling clock?

Hi Manos,

As Kier mentioned, the Timer would still be used by the DPL Layer (read more about it here: https://dev.ti.com/tirex/explore/node?node=A__AUi-QsMbJpENuMkGzeqSSA__AM26X-ACADEMY__t0CaxbG__LATEST)

The RTI timer is started by the auto generated code in the DPL init function. You cannot start it later (unless you over-ride the auto-generated code and disable the auto-generation of the file from syscfg). What you can do is stop and re-start the Time when you want.
