AM2434: Compatible flash part for QSPI

Hi Mari,

You see different protocols supported would depend on the specific flash part selected. Could you look at the flash specific datasheet and check Transaction table or the Command Table and see a list of protocols supported by the flash?

I am going through the checks below.

1. CHECK A: If the flash part requires some additional commands to be send before ROM issues the 0x6B read command, then such flash is not supported.
2. CHECK B: If the flash part requires setting up of some additional registers before ROM issues the 0x6B read command, then such flash is not supported.

The specific datasheet is this: W25Q64JV Datasheet

I am looking specifically at the QE bit and I see that the QE bit needs to be set. So this flash is ruled out correct?

Could you tell me which specific part the OSPI/QSPI Flash Selection Guide is referring to here? Do you know if it is on the AM243x LP or EVM? (I will also check through schematics) I want to give a reference point for my customer.

Thank you for specifying the datasheet and the flash part. Could you please check with the flash vendor to which of the highlighted protocols support: erase, write and read operations?

I am sure 1s-1s-1s supports all three of the operations but what about the ones highlighted below:

The next ROM updates will take care of this QE bit as well. So this constraint will be ruled out.

Hi Vaibhav,

What do you mean by next ROM updates? Do you mean the next version SDK? If so, they have already fixed their SDK version to 9.2.11. 

In this case, then they will have to be aware of the QE constraint right?

By next ROM updates I mean the next revision of ROM. Not the MCU PLUS SDK version.

When is the next ROM revision devices going to be shipped? 

Customer is planning for second prototype now, but this will not be available during their second prototype I assume.

With this ROM update, will they not have to worry about both checks for the flash part?

I heard that AM62L 1.1 ROM updates are going to roll out before the end of June.

Let me confirm if this update would also cater to AM243.
