MSPM0G1506: External oscillator input port

Part Number: MSPM0G1506

Tool/software:

The MSPM0G1X0X has two input ports (LFXIN, LFCLK_IN) for external low-frequency clocks.

I would like to input and use a digital signal from an oscillator, but due to the surrounding wiring I would like to use the LFXIN pin instead of LFCLK_IN.
The LFXOUT pin will be designed as an open port.
Are there any inconveniences that could arise in this case?

  • Hi,

What do you mean by "input and use a digital signal from an oscillator"? If you are plan to use a digital signal input, then you must use LFCLK_IN pin as its input pin. The LFXIN could not be used for digital signal input.

  • Thank you for your reply.
As you wrote, I am trying to use the LFXIN pin as a digital signal input.
I checked 7.9.4 Low Frequency Crystal/Clock in the datasheet and the user manual, but could not find any problems with the specifications.
The frequency range and duty ratio of LFCLK_IN are stricter.

    What is the problem?
Is it the voltage level or the status of the LFXOUT pin?

  • Hi,

It is just that the LFXIN is not designed with the ability to accept digital input signal.
