Hi Geoffrey,
Can you please elaborate the above query?
Are you looking for dual role USB functionality?

Tushar
Hi Geoffrey,
No I need two simultaneous USB connection
The above is not possible. We only have 1 x USB DRD controller, that can either operate as host or device at a time.

Hi Tushar,
If you take a look at the DS :
You can use the SERDES as USB superspeed gen1. Do you have confirm that you can't use it simultaneously with the USB DRD controller?
Regards
Geoffrey
Hi Geoffrey,
You can use the SERDES as USB superspeed gen1
The SERDES module is common to both USB and PCIE. So at the time you can either use PCIE functionality or USB communication with SERDES.
When SERDES is use with USB, USB can communicate as SuperSpeed Gen1 otherwise can be configured as USB2.0 (High Speed/Full Speed).
The USB 3.0 superspeed is not supported by the current SDK offering. Please refer USB_DEVICE_DRIVER for supported and unsupported features via SDK.
Hope the above information clarifies the doubt.

Hi,
So I don't use PCIe, is it possible to use the USB from the USBSS AND the USB from SERDES ?
Regards
Geoffrey
Hi Geoffrey,
The AM243x SoC only has 1xUSBSS DRD controller that can either be configured as host or device as stated in my earlier replies.
So I don't use PCIe, is it possible to use the USB from the USBSS AND the USB from SERDES ?
Even if you don't use the PCIE with SERDES, it can only support USB 2.0 device mode as limited by current SDK offering.

Tushar:
as a followup: that SERDES is meant only be useful for " (USB 3.0 HOST in AM64x) exclusive or (PCIE)" - and for no other general purpose - true?
thanks
Jim
Hi Jim,
that SERDES is meant only be useful for " (USB 3.0 HOST in AM64x) exclusive or (PCIE)" - and for no other general purpose - true?
Yes, you can check the device TRM, SERDES is only connected to PCIE and USB.
