AM2432: Compatibility of SBL Image

Tool/software:

We have designed a custom board with AM2432BSEFHIALV, the suffix of the chip includes 'F' and 'H', so it features both functional safety and security. The AM2434ALV chip of the TI 243EVM board includes 'G' and 'H', features security but lacks functional safety. If we exclude board peripheral device differences (e.g., Flash, DDR, etc.), whether the pre-built SBL Image for AM2434 EVM board can be directly used on AM2432?

We have tried to download SDK pre-built SBL image (with HS_FS) of EVM board to our custom board with UniFlash tool, it reported image "load failed" error, but the same SLB image can be downloaded to EVM board without error. So that I suspect there might be difference with security and functional safety feature between AM2432 and AM2434, do we need to recompile these SBL project for AM2432 device?

Hi,

It is a good practise to recompile for your custom EVM.

I am also assuming you meant to say that for TI EVM, the sbl prebuilt images worked whereas for your custom EVM it did not.

The Flash is going to be a crucial aspect of lets suppose the project SBL UART Uniflash as a custom flash on your EVM means different flash configurations to be updated in the SBL UART Uniflash project.

The Flash chip we used is same as the TI EVM's, I have double checked the OSPI connections and also physical signals, I confirmed there is no difference with TI EVM.

The SDK pre-built SBL images worked for TI EVM, but when I download it to my custom board, the UniFlash tool reported an error message '......hs_fs.tiimage: Load failed'. I am not sure if the error indicates download process of the image/file to the target device failed, or implying that the image itself doesn't work on the target device?

Additionally, could you please help to clarify another question, for a new board with empty flash, can I directly use the UniFlash tool to download SBL image through JTAG, or maybe I have to firstly flash the new board by other way (uart or SD, etc.)

Yes you can use either of them. Do you have UART on the custom board as well or you just have JTAG?
