LP-MSPM0C1104: MSP ZERO CODE STUDIO can't connect to the EVM

Expert 3991 points
Part Number: LP-MSPM0C1104

Tool/software:

Hi Champs,

I've just installed the new version of the tool (1.01.00.08) and it can't connect to the Launchpad. The LP is ok since it works well with CCS.

The error message is:

It appears immediately right after I hit the CONNECT button at the bottom right. Seems like it even doesn't try to do it.

When I tried with the Cloud version, it didn't work either. Same error message.

It's not the first time I tried with the ZERO CODE STUDIO on my notebook. I used to have it work properly before I installed this new version.

There is no where I can take a look at connection settings so I don't know where the error message comes from.

Pls advise how to sort out this issue.

Thanks,

Kien Nguyen

  • Hello Kien,

Thank you for contacting us. Nevertheless, I have a quick question here. Even though you do see that particular error, was the program able to build and load successfully onto the board when you clicked on "Build and Load"?

    Regards, Jojo

  • Hello Jojo,

It can build. But it can't load. Thus the "Build" button works, but the "Build and Load" button does not.

  • Hello Kien,

Thank you for letting me know this. However, I just tried connecting a LP-MSPM0C1104 to my Lenovo, chose "UART Hello World" as the starting project, hit "Build and Load", and then after I can see the successful load message on the bottom tab. Nevertheless, when I do click on the connect, I see the same message you are seeing (which I am clarifying internally) but the launchpad works successfully with no issues. Can you try with the simple uart program and get back to me on this?

    Regards, Jojo

  • Jojo,

It works for me as well. It didn't yesterday. I don't know why but it would be helpful if you can check and update me on the connection status message since it's quite confusing.

    Thanks for your support.

    Regards,

    Kien Nguyen

  • Hello Kien,

That is good news that it is working properly now. And regarding the "connect" error message, I interacted with a Zero Code Studio expert internally yesterday and his response can be found below:

"The "connect" error message is unrelated and more an artifact of this being a GUI Composer tool, I can see the message as well when clocking on it, but this "Connect" button has no direct effect on Zero Code Studio configuration and the user should not have to select it at any moment for loading into the device, only use the Build / Build & Load buttons."

Hence, I do presume this will be rectified in the upcoming versions to prevent any vagueness. Kindly let me know if you have further questions and I am willing to help!

    Regards, Jojo
