LP-AM261: Issue flashing Profinet Device Demo to AM261x-LPE2

have you tried to flash the board using Uniflash GUI and mcelf files?

Please follow the instructions mentioned in the release documentation to flash the board:

Yes, I’ve tried flashing the board using the Uniflash GUI and the .mcelf files – however, I couldn’t see any indication that the flashing was successful outside of Uniflash. The application did not start afterwards, and upon checking, the memory was still empty.

Other examples from the SDK, such as EtherCAT and Ethernet/IP, can be flashed and executed without any issues with CCS.

However, when I try to load the profinet_device_demo using CCS, the process crashes. The window that shows which memory regions are being written freezes at the following line and does not progress any further:

Have you also flashed both the .mcelf and .mcelf_xip images for PROFINET? Other protocols use only .mcelf images. However for PROFINET, the binary is split across mcelf and mcelf_xip images, due to the size of the image.

Yes, I did flash both the .mcelf and .mcelf_xip images for PROFINET. However, I get the following error when trying to run it:

Cortex_R5_0 Invalid Image format!!

Is there a specific boot mode I need to use, or do I have to use a particular SBL image to support this setup?

Hi Florian,

I believe you are using Uniflash version 9.2.0 and the boot mode configuration of the LP is either UART(incase you are using UART mode for flashing) or dev boot mode(while flashing using uniflash tool).

And how are you checking the memory content? In Uniflash tool(for external flash devices the memory view is incorrect)

Can you share a screenshot of the Uniflash tool configuration.

Yes, I am using UniFlash version 9.2.0.5300. I have tried both UART and development boot modes, using both AppImage and MCE ELF data. In all cases, I am unable to detect the device in CODESYS or see any messages in Wireshark.

You will need to change the load address of mcelf_xip image from 0xF0000000 to 0xE0000000. We suggest to use the mcelf images for flashing, as this has been extensively tested. Kindly refer to the documentation in MCU-SDK for complete details on using the Uniflash tool for mcelf images.

thank you for the information.

I have adjusted the load address of the mcelf_xip image from 0xF0000000 to 0xE0000000 as suggested and used the mcelf images for flashing, following the instructions in the MCU-SDK documentation. The flashing process itself works without issues, and I have tested it with several different applications.

However, I am not seeing any response or activity from the board after flashing in any of the cases. It seems that the application is not starting as expected.

Do you have any suggestions on how to further debug this or verify whether the application is being executed correctly?
