AM2434: Power supply for high level functional safety

Hello,

We are considering AM243x for high level functional safety machine.

Could you check these questions?

We want to compliant for SIL3, categoly 4 (ISO 13849)

Question 1

For these function safety compliant, we believe use LP87334DRHDR.

Do you have another option of PMIC?

Question 2

I believe it require Lockstep hardware for compliant.

Is it enough below hardwere for voltage monitoring ? (Is it need another voltage monitoring port for diagnostics)

    Hi GR,

    Apologies for the delay, it took some time for your question to be routed to the correct team. 

    For power solutions for AM243x, LP8733 or TPS65219 are the recommended PMICs:

    However, these PMICs are general purpose and not Functional-Safety compliant devices themselves. 
    So yes, they will need external voltage monitors for the system to be considered functional safety compliant. 

    I am not sure if I am understanding your hardware outline correctly, where are you proposing the voltage monitor should be connected?

    We do have FIT rate and FMD documentation available for the TPS65219-Q1 (automotive rated TPS65219) to assist with safety assessment here. 
    But this device was not specifically designed according to ISO26262 standards.

    For a complete functional safety-compliant PMIC solution, then TPS6594-Q1 would be the recommended device.
