SYSCONFIG: DDR4 configuration tool

Part Number: SYSCONFIG

Tool/software:

Hi,

My customer try to perform following setting by using DDR configuration tool for AM64x.

"tCCD_L_ns" : 6.25
"tRRD_L_ns" : 6

On the other hand, customer will use DDR clock as 800MHz.
Then we have folllowing question.

Q1, Except  tCCD_L_ns" and "tRRD_L_ns", there are another specs "tCCD_L_tck" and "tRRD_L_tck".
When user set descrepancy between these two, is there any problem ?
(Which setting is used to configration of register setting ?)

Ex. When user set "DDRSS.ddr4.config_dram_tRRD_L_ns= 6;" but "DDRSS.ddr4.config_dram_tRRD_L_tck" is set as default value (in default this value is "4").

Q2, It seems that there is no setting item related to "burst mode" on DDR configuration tool. Can't user set burst mode setting on DDR configuration tool ?

Best Regards,

  • Please check the README link in the tool for information on how to fill out the parameters.

    Most parameters will have a 'ns' component and a 'tCK' component in the datasheet.  Simply fill those into the tool, and the appropriate calculations will be made.  There is no need for you to do any calculations.  Be sure to choose the specification for the speed grade of your device.

    As an example below, simply input tRRD_L_ns = 7.5, tRRD_L_tCK = 4, and the tool will perform the appropriate calculation to choose the max value of the two depending on the operating frequency

    The device by default already operates in burst mode.  There is no setting needed.

    James

  • Hello,

    Thank you for your reply.

    Which burst mode setting is applied in default "burst mode 8 length" or "on the fly burst chop 4" ?

    Which document above "choose the max value of two depending on the operating frequency" is described ?
    In above example, I understand that "7.5ns(=6tck(@800Mhz))" is set to "TRRD_L_Fx" bitfield of DDR16SS0_CTL_45(for "F0"), 48(For "F1") and 51(For "F2") register.

    Best Regards,

  • 1. Only BL=8 is supported

    2. Check the README link in the tool.

  • Hi,

    Thank you for your reply.
    >2. Check the README link in the tool.
    What I would like to confirm is which link did you point out.
    I refered following "README" link, but there is no information which you described.
    https://dev.ti.com/tirex/content/Processor_DDR_Config_0.10.30.0000/docs/README.html

    Could you please paste the link which you refered ?

    Best Regards,

  • see this bullet point:

    • some parameters have two components (ns and tCK), both of which can be found in your memory device datasheet where appropriate. Just enter these as shown in the datasheet, the tool will make the appropriate calculations to meet the min/max timing specifications.

    Regards,

    James
