TMDSEMU110-U: External XDS110 Debugger does not seem to be programmed properly

Recently I received several external XDS110 debuggers from TI FAE as samples. When testing them on AM263P4-CC evaluation board through JTAG connection on the breakout board, I found Uniflash did not recognize the device properly.

Here is a screenshot. The top device in the red box is the external XDS110 connected to my laptop. The bottom device in the green box is the CC evaluation board onboard XDS110 debugger.

The external debugger shows "serial number: NoSerial" and "Device: (click to manually select)". (See image attached)

The debugger still seems to work despite the lack of information though.

Is there a way I can fix this easily?

Hello,

What version of UniFlash are you using? And the debugger works when you select the device in the green box right?

The green box is the Control Cards's onboard debugger. It won't work because I've switch the JTAG Path MUX (SW1) to using the HSEC for testing for the external debugger.

But yes, the onboard debugger works fine if I select the onboard JTAG using SW1.

I see. If you select the device manually (as seen in the red box), are you able to connect with the external debugger?

yes, the debugger works fine. Is there a simple method for me to program the serial number on the debugger? Or is it only possible at your factory?

Hello,

Yes, this is possible. Please use the xdsdfu utility in CCS (ccs\ccs_base\common\uscif\xds110) and refer to the XDS110SupportReadMe.pdf documentation. This utility will allow you to set the serial number and device configuration of the debugger as needed.
