AM263P4: TI Arm Clang Compiler C++20 support

Tool/software:

Currently using SDK 10.2.0.15 which has TI Arm Clang 4.0.0.LTS. According to documentation, this supports C++17 standards.

When porting existing code to the AM263P4 MCU this causes issues when attempting to use C++20 features.

Are there any plans to upgrade C++ standards for the compiler? If not, can we request this?

For a full list of supported C++ features, you can visit the TI Arm Clang Compiler Tools User's Guide

I recommend upgrading the TI Arm Clang Compiler, which can be done in CCS through Help -> Check For Updates

I will see if I can find anything on future plans for the C++20 features.

Below is the response from the compiler team. Also looks like C++20 is a partial support for even open source compilers.

It would help to know if there are specific features that is of interested. We can start to plan our v6.0.0.LTS work toward the beginning of 2026.

Below are a couple features that come to mind.

We are porting our code to AM263P4 and the code is currently using C99 designated initializers. We had to suppress them with -Wno-c99-designator.

As for the dates, it will be sometime early 2026.
