We use MSPM0L1305-Q1 for in-vehicle projects. The BSL upgrade function was used in the project, and the configuration is as follows. We discovered the following problems during the development

1. If the firmware is fully transmitted via BSL each time, it can be upgraded repeatedly

2. If the firmware transmission is interrupted during the BSL upgrade process. Then, after the reset is completed, the BSL upgrade still cannot be carried out. The chip must be powered off and then restored to BSL.

We are quite puzzled about the fact that the chip's state still cannot be restored after a reset.

PS: Chips are used in automotive components and cannot be powered off at will

Hi Owens,

Yes, this is the expected behavior. If the transmission is interrupted for more than 10 seconds, the BSL enters standby mode. This requires a POR to get out of this condition and you must re-establish a connection with the BSL.

Hi Owens,

Ok, so if you can't control the power to the device to cause the device to go through a POR then let me check with our systems team to see if they have a possible solution.

Hi Owens,

My apologies for the late reply. I was out of office unexpectedly on Friday.

If the host MCU (device) that is performing the BSL update have control of the NRST pin? If so, holding the pin low > 1 sec should force the MSPM0 into a POR reset state.

We tried to lower the nrst for 2 seconds and then restore it and retry, but the phenomenon still persisted

Ok, my assumption is you are invoking the BSL, using PA18 or other designated BSL invoke pin, and the NRST, correct?

If host can control NRST and PA18 (or whichever pin you setup as BSLINVOKE pin and let's say the polarity is active low, I'm being told that if can pull and hold low NRST low > 1sec (puts device into POR state) then set BSLINVOKE = 0v momentarily, then release BSL INVOKE pin, the BSL should be up and running. Any luck trying this?
