AM263P4: AM263P4

Part Number: AM263P4
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: AM2634, TIDM-02018, BOOSTXL-3PHGANINV, LP-AM263

Tool/software:

Hi TI team,
Whether AM263P4 will be able to support motor control application and some other functionalities like Matlab(Simulink) ,Foc algorithm ?

Thanks & regards,
Aravind R

  • Hi Aravind,

Yes AM263P4 supports motor control applications, as it has dedicated control peripherals like, high resolution PWM, high performance ADC and also other control peripehrals like ECAP, DAC etc.

For motor control solution refer to this:

https://www.ti.com/tool/TIDM-02018 This is for am263, but same is supported for AM263P as well

  • nd some other functionalities like Matlab(Simulink) ,Foc algorithm

We AM263P4 also has matlab support, you can request for matlab package here:

  • Hi Nilabh,

Thanks for the response. Can you please confirm whether it has RDC in the kit and how do we connect the Resolver in the AM2634?

    Thanks & regards,
    Aravind R

  • Hi Aravind

Can you please confirm whether it has RDC in the kit and how do we connect the Resolver in the AM2634?

Sorry could you please elaborate more on this?

If these are part of simulink package, then please reach out Matlab support for these.

  • Hi Nilabh,

I want to clarify for my earlier question that I was asking whether the TIDM-02018 includes an RDC, since it's currently unavailable for purchase. Alternatively, we're considering using the BOOSTXL-3PHGANINV with the LP-AM263 evaluation kit, which I believe includes RDC functionality. Could you please confirm whether this setup supports RDC?

    Thanks & regards,
    Aravind R

  • Hello Aravind,

TIDM-02018 currently supports Hall sensors, incremental encoders, and sensorless observers. If by RDC you mean the resolver to digital converter module, you can take a look at our traction inverter example with a resolver in the c2000 motor control SDK called "tidm_02014_traction_inverter" to find the C codes for the resolver. The AM263P4 features an ASIL-D hardware resolver to reduce CPU overhead. The hardware resolver supports programmable excitation frequencies of up to 20KHz and offers 16-bit precision trigonometric functions.

  • Hi Masoud,

Thanks for your response. I checked tidm_02014_traction_inverter but it's not available for purchase. So we planned to BOOSTXL-3PHGANINV with the LP-AM263 evaluation kit. Is it a good option to go?

    Thanks & regards,
    Aravind R.

  • Yes, BOOSTXL-3PHGANINV is a good option to start your evaluation on it. The reason I suggested to check the "tidm_02014_traction_inverter" code is that you can use it as an resolver example and bring the resolver support to your code. That part is c-code which in not device specific except initialization.
