I'm using a Spectrum Digital XDS510 USB PLUS with NowFlash. I get the following output when programming. What does MAXPLS mean? And where is the Flash status register documented?

Hi,

I am not an expert on this tool, so I am not sure what that error means.

What h/w are you using?

Have you tried the on board XDS100vs as well to flash? Does that give the same error?

The tms570 mcu is on a custom pcb, not a dev kit. However, I have tried flashing with a Blackhawk USB100v2 with no luck.

What error do you get with the Blackhawk tool?

Have you tried it on multiple devices?

Even with the above answer, I am not sure I can help you get the problem resolved before the new year as most of our team is already on vacation and will be back only on Jan 3rd or later.

Most of the time, the blackhawk tool couldn't connect to target. Sometimes, I would get an "algorithm timed out" error.

Do you have existing code already on the device that you are trying to program?

Yes, there was existing code on the device. I was attempting to program new code to the flash.

Something in the existing code is preventing nowFlash from operating correctly. Try holding reset on the board until nowFlash indicates it is trying to connect and release it. It may take several tries to get this workaround to work.

hello, John Hall, I meet this problem too. when there's no code in the CPU(tms570ls10106), the nowflash can download a new code; when there's existing code in the CPU (tms570ls10106), the nowflash can not download a new code. print time out and error 135. But when I try holding reset on the board until nowFlash indicates it is trying to connect and release it, then nowflash can download code again. So i want to ask why? if there's another better mothod?

nowFlash requires access to the CPU through JTAG. Code executing on the device can prevent this from occurring. By holding reset until nowFlash tries to connect, you give nowFlash a chance to halt the device before the existing code has a chance to execute.
