AM263P4: How to integrate external flash to AM263P?

How do we connect additional external Flash to AM263P4 ZCZ_F package?

Since EMIF is not available on the AM263P4, and the only other way is to use OSPI for interfacing with external memory. AM263P4 has only one OSPI instance, and they have selected the ZCZ_F package for our design. I observed that in this ZCZ_F package, the only available OSPI is routed internally to the onboard 8MB flash.

Any other suggestions?

With the SIP package AM263P4, unfortunately, we do not have an option to connect flash externally.

Depending on what do they need this memory for, they can use SPI. Apart from that I do not see an option.

Also if there is an internal SIP flash present, why do the need another external one.

Hi Nilabh,

Madhurya asked this question on behalf of us.

We need external flash memory to store the fault data and some periodic data. Storage space of around 1GB is required to meet our requirements to store fault data of minimum 30days.

Earlier used controller has EMIF interface and we used a parallel Flash memory.

Please suggest how to proceed on this requirement.

Followup Question:
Can the balls where the OSPI interface would be connected be used for other purposes, eg as GPIO pins? Or are the balls NC in this package?
