Hi TI Team,

           we are currently in the evaluation phase for selecting a hardware platform for a 64 kW BLDC motor control system intended for a safety-critical MOTOR ESC application.

We are exploring TI's Sitara® AM62x family for this use case and would appreciate your feedback on its suitability based on the following technical and application requirements.


Project Overview

We aim to develop a DO-178C DAL-B (or higher) compliant ESC system for aerospace/mobility-grade applications. This project demands high-performance motor control with safety-critical design considerations.


Key Requirements

We are seeking a processor/MCU solution with the following capabilities:

  • Safety-compliant architecture support (preferably Lockstep or external safety monitoring mechanisms for DAL-B/ASIL-D implementations)

  • Support for Field-Oriented Control (FOC) of high-power BLDC/PMSM motors

  • Integrated or supported features for:

    • PWM-ADC synchronization

    • Sensorless / encoder / resolver feedback (RDC)

    • High switching frequency PWM support

  • Toolchain compatibility with Green Hills Software (GHS) or equivalent

  • Optional external or integrated Safety Manager MCU
