Hello Team,

we are currently working on AM263Px SIP board.

we were working on LIN Communication connection. we tried to execute the LIN example. But after Mcu reset we are not able to send data through the UART XDS110 debug probe and also always we are getting the same error

This error is generated by TI's USCIF driver or utilities.

The value is '-233' (0xffffff17).
The title is 'SC_ERR_PATH_BROKEN'.

The explanation is:
The JTAG IR and DR scan-paths cannot circulate bits, they may be broken.
An attempt to scan the JTAG scan-path has failed.
The target's JTAG scan-path appears to be broken
with a stuck-at-ones or stuck-at-zero fault.

Can you please let us know how to resolve this error.

we even tried to update XDS110 firmware, but even then same error.

we tried to connect through uniflash tool but also same error.

we have adapted the required switch setting that is SW1 to XDS110 position.

This was working earlier for us, but when we tried LIN connections , from that time, we are facing this issue

Hi Pradeep,

This is an invalid data read back error. Can you please have a look at the Debugging JTAG guide and try the integrity scan-test that is outlined in this section?

Hello Brennan,

we referred this doc, but we could not succeed in communicating with the XDS110 debug probe issue.

Is there any other option to do factory reset of the device.

Because we tried with uniflash tool, we are getting could not reset DAP_0 error.

Can we have an joint debug session to understand this issue.

Hi Pradeep, we also faced a similar issue, and found out that the pulldown resistor value in our design was the issue. We had earlier used a 1k pulldown resistor on the TRST line which we later changed to 2.2k which resolved the issue. We were successfully able to flash and debug with CCS and also flash using Uniflash with XDS110.

Hello Sourabh Patil ,

Our board was working all these days, we were able to debug using XDS110 debug probe

But suddenly now it is not working

May i know whether we need to solder 2.2l resistor on the board for pull down.

Hey Pradeep, you could check that whether your board Jtag circuitry follows this as per datasheet:

Also, check if there's any loose connection between JTAG connector and the Debug Probe

Our onboard Jtag connector circuitry has this pulldown on TRST line which was causing the issue in our case.

Sourabh, Pradeep,

Since you are working with a TI EVM, there should not be any modification needed to the board hardware.

You can try a manual firmware update to the XDS110 by following these steps: https://software-dl.ti.com/ccs/esd/documents/xdsdebugprobes/emu_xds110.html#manual-update

Hello Brennan,

we already tried updating firmware. But still same issue.

"C:\ti\ccs1281\ccs\ccs_base\common\uscif\xds110\firmware_3.0.0.32.bin" we used the firmware from CCS1281

Have you tried lowering the JTAG TCLK speed?

Can you also confirm your boot mode switches are set for DEVBOOT mode?

Yes the ports are visible

and the image of the board is

Earlier LD8 was glowing but after this issue, it is not glowing

Thanks, that is really helpful information.

It looks like the on-board PMIC is not being enabled, and therefore no power is being supplied to the AM263P4 device. Can you confirm that you have shunts populated on headers J20 and J22? These are needed to enable the PMIC.

If you do have the jumpers populated, can you also try powering the EVM by plugging the USB-C directly into the control card USB-C port (J1)?

If you do not see results, you can also try removing the shunts, powering the board, then applying the shunts. This should 'start-up' the PMIC.

Hello Brennan Hartigan ,

Yes the Jumper J20 and J22 are sorted. we removed and again connected back the jumper still same issue.

We even tried to power the AM263P SIP board directly with USB type c on J1, but still the error is same.

The RED LED illuminated next to the USB-C input indicates that the power supply you are using is not supplying the required 5V/3A.

Please ensure the supply you are using meets the EVM requirements described in Section 2.1 of the EVM User Guide.

Is that external adapter capable of supplying the required 3A?

The supply must be capable of supplying 5V at 3A for 15W Power Delivery over USB-C.

Hi Pradeep,

Thanks for the live debug session.

To summarize:

The power supply is capable of 15W PD
5V is successfully being boosted to 12V for the PMIC input
The PMIC WAKE pin is receiving the correct 12V input
the PMIC reset out pin is measuring LOW, HIGH is expected

It looks like the PMIC is not starting up correctly. I will mark this thread as resolved since we have determined that the original thread issue regarding the XDS110 probe is not the root cause of what you are seeing.
