Hi Ti Family,

We have designed new board based on AM2634 MCU and to connect and load the program we are using XDS110 debug probe.

I am currently debugging and running program on MCU using DEV Boot or No Boot mode.

I need clarification on " can i flash the code using the same boot ( No Boot) mode?".

Do I need to flash the code first and change the boot mode later on so that it load the program from RAM?

Hi Tej

You can flash the program in dev boot mode. for execution you need the change the boot mode to QSPI, so that code from flash will be copied to RAM and then executed.

1. Is there any way to verify whether the code is properly flashed in dev boot mode?

2. Is there any option to copy the code to RAM from flash in dev boot mode?

No, may I know why are you trying to do this?

Hi Nilabh,

Actually, we don't have switch for changing boot mode, this update require mounting and unmounting of resistors on board.

If there is any alternate method to do same(triggering boot from flash through ccs ) from software side, please recommend.

This is possible using the SBL JTAG uniflash exaple:

This is not possible in a clean way, but for debugging, there is a hacky way, (This is not recomended by TI) I will leave it up to you if you want to use it.

1.Import the SBL QSPI ccs project from SDK folder - C:\ti\mcu_plus_sdk_am263x_10_02_00_13\examples\drivers\boot\sbl_qspi

2. Open syscfg and go to memory configurator section and make the following changes:

Change the load address to R5F_VECS TYPE:TCMA,

Then rebuild the project. The build will show some post build faliure you can ignore it.

Now launch a debug session with Am263x ccxml as mentionde here,

Connect to core and load the newly built SBL QSPI.

Please make sure to flash the application image using Uniflash to offset:0x00080000

This way you will be able to run your application which is in RAM and the SBL is loaded from CCS debug session.

SBL will copy your application from RAM

After doing the above changes recommended.
Can you confirm two things?

1. Will MCU be able to load the program from flash automatically after restart?

2. Will i be able to load and run the program using the xds110 debug probe again?

No, because Pogram can restart automatically only if you are using OSPI boot mode and both SBL and Application are present in flash, which is not the case here.
