Yes, this shall be fixed in all examples via MDIO emulation by bit banging. I assume you are referring to MCU+ SDK here

Why is the SDK status of this issue still listed as "Open" at the bottom of this release notes page?

The workaround is tested and known to be working. Please give me time till monday to confirm the integration in the SDK.

It is confirmed that the software fix is integrated in MCU+ SDK for both CPSW and ICSSG. I will request for updating the documentation accordingly for the next release.
