nowFlash Tool not found by Hercules Safety MCU Demos

I tried to launch the LED demo from Hercules Safety MCU Demos with an RM48 MCU HDK connected via USB, but it does not detect the nowFlash Utility.

The software gives the following error "nowFlash v3.4 or greater was not found on your computer.  Please install nowFlash then try again.".

But nowFlash Rev 3.4.1 is already installed.

    Please let me know:

    1) You are running it on xp or windows7?

    2) The directory that you install the Hercules Safety MCU Demos, default is "C:\Program Files\Texas Instruments\Hercules\Hercules Safety MCU Demos"

    3) The directory that you install the nowFlash V3.4.1, default is "C:\ti\nowFlash\v3.41"

    Hello,

    1.) running on XP

    2.) Because of german localization, the MCU Demos is located under:

    "C:\Programme\Texas Instruments\Hercules\Hercules Safety MCU Demos"

    3.) Nowflash is installed at the default location C:\ti\nowFlash\v3.41

    The safety software reads out the registry to find the nowFlash, please

    1) Run regedt32, the Registry Editor windown should pop out.

    2) look for:

    3) Under SOFTWARE, look for:

    4) At this point, the MCU safety software find the nowFlash software.

    5) So, please check your PC registry to see whether the name in the red box are exactly the same (for "nowFlash v3.40", the nowFlash has to be exactly the same).

    Hi Haixiao.

    I´m having the same problem.

    I m running Windows 7 Professional SP1 (spanish version) on a 64bit system.

    I´v both nowFlash v3.40 and v3.41 installed:

    - C:\ti\nowFlash\v340

    - C:\ti\nowFlash\v3.41

    Here is a trace of the registry access by the Hercule demo software:

    here are the key entries:

    the names seem to match but the Demo software complain about nowFlash not installed...

    both installed nowFlash are working I already used them out of the DemoSoftware.

    64bit system might be the problem.

    The safety demo is built with labview in a 32bit system.

    I read some posts in National Instrument's website saying that they can not read the registry in such a case.

    I am sorry I can not help further. We may need to push for a 64bit version safety demo to overcome this.

    I have same problem (Win7 64bit Czech) and latast update of nowflash and herkules demo.

    Hi,

    I'm running 64-bit windows and trying to get the Hercules Demo Software to work.

    Setting the compatibility to Windows XP (Service Pack 3) will get me a step further:
    I now see a new error for "Flash470 not found" which i really didn't expect since i'm having a TMS570LS3137 USB dev. kit.

    In another thread I saw it was stated that a version 2.0 of the Hercules Demo Software should have been released in the middle of April (Source: http://e2e.ti.com/support/microcontrollers/hercules/f/766/p/158060/659667.aspx#659667)

    Well, i guess i have to try using CCS v5 and the source code found in the Hercules Demo Software folder. Wish me luck.

    Hi,

    I have also the problem with NowFlash 3.41, but with a windows 7 32bit version. NowFlash version 3.4.1 is installed by default and if I start the Hercules Safety MCU demo with a RM48 MCU HDK I get the message "You need nowFlash v3.4 or higher". I have also updated to version 3.4.2.

    In difference to the others is the version 3.40 and the components not included. What can I do now?

    Hi,

    There was a bug in the demo software.The demo software was not working properly for the german machines.The demo software(the launcher GUI) was basically checking  for the nowflash version >3.40 in order to flash the demo software onto the the board.In german machines conversion routines behaved differently as 3.41 is actually represented as 3,41 in german language.This has been fixed now and the solution should be avaiable in the next drop of the demo software.
