AM2431: About AM2431 design

Part Number: AM2431
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TMDS243EVM, TPS74801

Tool/software:

Hi, Experts.

Currently, the temperature of the PCB we manufactured based on AM2431ALV is very high. (65℃~ 75℃)

(It works normally, such as connecting to jtag, downloading flash, and running programs.)

It was configured the same as TMDS243EVM's decap, but the difference from TMDS243EVM is that chips are concentrated around it.

I've read the design guide, but I don't think there's a guide for discharging heat.

What should we do?

Regards,

  • Hello Seong Chang Kim,

    Thank you for the query.

Let me check with the team.

Have you had a chance to perform some thermal simulations?

    Regards,

    Sreenivasa

  • No, I haven't done a thermal simulation.

Do you have any related methods or programs?

First of all, we purchased a thermal imaging camera and are analyzing it, but the maximum heating point is TPS74801.

Currently, there are two TPS74801DRCRs on our board, which receive 5V as input and output 2.5V and 1.0V, respectively.

The two TPS74801DRCR are approximately 64 and 62 degrees, respectively.

On the other custom board we have, these regulators receive 3.3V as input and output 2.5V and 1.1V, respectively, and on this board, 61.1C and 60.5C are recorded respectively.

Is there a solution to this?

    Regards,

  • Hello Seong Chang Kim,

Do you have a discrete power architecture implemented?

Are you able to share the schematics.

I am not sure on the use case for rails. Depending on the current, you could consider using a DC/DC for the 1.1V.

    Regards,

    Sreenivasa
