TMS570LC4357: Use of External Flash

Yes, TMS570LC4357 controller have EMIF module. This will be helpful to interface external synchronous and asynchronous memories with controller.

And this interface doesn't require F021 library.

As a follow up question, can the processor be set to boot from the external flash? or would we need to boot from the internal FRAM and then jump to code stored in external flash?

Apologies for the delayed response.

No, booting directly from external flash is not possible in Hercules controllers.

The reason is, at reset the TMS570LC4357 fetches its reset vector from internal flash address 0x00000000 only.
