TMDS273EVM: Connect FPGA dev kit to MIPI CSI-2 lanes

Hi Shane,

One CSI is pinned out on J1 and another on J11. No other connectors. These are high-speed differential lanes which are hard to be routed to more than one connector at a time.

So, is it possible to validate the CSI-2 lanes between the AM2732 and an FPGA? Perhaps an adapter or a different eval board? Thanks.

You could use an cable that fits Samtec QTH-030-04-L-D-A-K-TR on the EVM.

If I'm understanding correctly, that cable fits the aforementioned 60-pin high-density connector created for the radar front-end. Does TI breakout the CSI-2 lines in a more generic way to connect a different dev kit? Is a custom Samtec cable the only option?

I believe there must be a ready-made cable assembly that fits the connector however it is not listed as a mate on the Samtec website. You may need to contact Samtec.

The pinout is described in the AM273x Evaluation Module User's Guide. I'm not aware of other TI EVMs that use the same connector/pinout.

Technically speaking, the concept of board stacking is also an option. The connector's mate (the connector on the daughter board) is www.samtec.com/.../qth-030-04-l-d-a-k-tr

Stan, there is a ready-made cable. It ships with the EVM and I have it. However, it seems like it is designed to only connected this EVM to the radar front-end (i.e. pinout you mentioned of which I am aware). I am still looking for a way to connect the CSI-2 receiver on this EVM to an FPGA dev kit CSI-2 transmitter instead.

I am not asking about designing a custom cable. I am trying to to better understand how to connect to the CSI-2 receivers on this EVM without using the radar front-end for which the high-density 60-pin is designed. How would one go about this? Is it using a custom cable? Is there an easier approach? Once I can better understand how TI suggests to use their features on their board, I can move forward. Thank you.
