Not able to debug LM4F232H5QD board using Luminary micro BD-ICDI-B debugger

Hi, I am trying to debug using JTAG the above said evaluation board. I installed all the pre-requisite drivers for the board, but I still get 'No emulator or board found'.  My device manager shows Stellaris ICDI COM port, Stellaris Virtual Serial Port  (under Ports) and Stellaris ICDI Board B( under USB controllers). I have also tried after installing Stellaris ICDI JTAG/SWD and Stellaris ICDI DFU  drivers but still doesn't work. Can anyone suggest why still the board is not detected, while it works perfectly fine on my colleague's machine with just the above serial and USB controllers. But his machine shows an additional Stellaris ICDI Board A. What is the issue?

  • Ga Ku,

You will just need to re-install the drivers. There are 3 drivers required to operate the USB->ICDI interface of the LM4F232H5QD board:

If these exist, I would suggest trying to re-install their repsective drivers. If they contain a yellow "?" as their icon, right click & Update Driver... . If they do not exist, when plugged in, it should prompt you to install these. You can locate these drivers in the CD included in your kit, or within StellarisWare/windows_drivers.

    Keep me updated.

  • Thanks Michael.

But I want to use external BD-ICDI-B debugger which connects to JTAG on the same evaluation board. So which drivers exactly do I need?  Also I did try with the above said drivers and just the USB-ICDI interface using Keil. It worked. But issue is I need to use the JTAG port on the board (for Red suite 4).  I have tried different combinations of enabling/disabling the above drivers but the board is not detected.

  • Are you referring to DD-ICDI? The Dust Devil drivers that control the ICDI interface to the LM4F?

If not, what you're looking for is not drivers for the Stellaris board, but drivers for your external BD-ICDI debugger.

  • No, the words on the JTAG debugger say precisely ' LUMINARY MICRO BD-ICDI-B'

  • Strangely, as I said it was not detecting Stellaris-ICDI-A and showing it in other devices as 'Stellaris ICDI board' (with a yellow mark) . I just updated drivers automatically and it started showing  'Stellaris-ICDI-A ' in USB controllers. Now I can connect to the board.

    Thanks.

  • Excellent. Anytime you see that yellow '?' next to the peripheral, it clues to an unsuccessfull driver installation. Thanks for the update.
