AM2634: SBL redundant boot

The AM263x Technical Reference Manual mentions support for SBL redundant boot (see below). Is there a recommended way for the SBL to determine whether it's running from the primary (0x0) or redundant (0xF0000) location?

5.5 Redundant boot support

Redundant boot is supported on QSPI flash boot modes. ROM tries to boot SBL at 0x0 address and if it fails to boot, then ROM tries to boot from 0xF0000 location.

Hi ,

ROM boots SBL, so it is typically the ROM code that saves the location from which SBL is booted.

On AM2634, this feature is not present; all successor devices in the family AM263P4 and AM261x have this feature.

The workaround would be to program the SBL with the hardcoded offset at the particulat offset in flash, so SBL can notify/save the location based on which SBL was booted.

Ex. SBL at 0x0 location writes 0x0 at the known location or SBL at 0xF0000 location writes 0xF0000 at the known location

Thanks Nilabh - noticed this in the errata document (https://www.ti.com/lit/an/spradb3a/spradb3a.pdf)

Is this something that would be fixed in the AM2634 ROM in the future? Or upgrading to the AM263P4 (or using AM261x) is the only path?

Unfortunately, we do not have plans to address this issue.

Using a successor part (AM263P4 or AM261x) would be a viable alternative.
