Hi,

As per TRM document, The TRNG can be used as an entropy source to derive true random seed values when implementing a deterministic random bit generator (DRBG).

Entropy Souce is only LDO or Temperature also? As per customer requirement, TRNG should be independent of Temperature. So do we have same allignment?

Hey Rahul,

The entropy source is only powered by an internal drop-out regulator dedicated to powering the TRNG peripheral to improve resistance to power manipulation attacks. The regulator itself is not sampled for the entropy source.

The entropy source is also not a temperature sensor, nor does it derive randomness from analog thermal noise or voltage variation caused by temperature.

Thanks for your response.

As per your email, Shall I conclude that, within working range Voltage and Temperature, TRNG for this ECU will be thermal independent, but if temperature or voltage vary beyond working range then TRNG functionality will be impact?

Yes correct, inside of spec the temperature and voltage will not be of concern. However, when out of spec, the functionality of TRNG and any other peripheral is not guaranteed.

There are many health tests that this device runs, and operation out of spec will likely trigger some of the failure modes as described in 15.2.4 of the Technical Reference Manual.
