AM623: AM6234 boot fail_QSPI NAND (2 plane)

Part Number: AM623

Hi Sir,

Does AM6234 support 2 planes array QSPI NAND?

The boot mode setting is following,

  • Bit[2:0]= 011 for Ref CLK = 25MHz
  • Bit[6:3]/[9:7]= 0000/111 for Serial NAND mode/ SPI  1-1-1 Mode
  • Bit[12:10]/[13]= 000/0 for none
  • Bit[15:14]= 00 for reserved pins

We use 1 plane NAND (W25N02KVZEIR) and boot successful, but 2 planes NAND (F50L2G41XA-104YIG2B) is boot fail.

  • Hello Amos Chen,

Thank you for your query and data provided !

According to the advisory i2372 of the AM62x Processor Silicon Revision 1.0,1.1 Errata there are certain restrictions for the AM623 ROM loader to boot from multi-plain serial NAND flash memories.

There is also a hint in the Section, Serial NAND Boot / Section, Serial NAND Bootloader Operation of the AM62x TRM

The documentation of the F50L2G41XA-104YIG2B shows that there is a Plane Select bit that shall be present in Read from Cache- command used by the AM623 ROM loader  during Serial NAND boot mode in 1S-1S-1S configuration (0xB).

It seems that the presence of a "Plane Select bit" in Read-cache command of the F50L2G41XA-104YIG2B  contradicts with the requirement by ROM Code. In order for ROM to boot successfully from multi-plane memory there shall be NO such bit.

Please allow me some time to double check this internally.

    Thanks

    Kind Regards,
