SYSESR.MPMODE was originally defined to support a feature on the ARM 10 class CPUs that were an original target of the platform architecture. ARM 10 has the capability to implement MPU or MMU, which would be indicated via this status bit. As no ARM 10 devices were produced, the bit is effectively a don't care.
