AM2432: Supported memory options for execution

Part Number: AM2432

Hi,

I am using AM2432 with the Industrial SDK 11.00.00.08.

Our projects involve the use of Profinet, EthernetIP and HSR/PRP. We currently use external DDR4 as memory to run most of the code, but we are now considering removing it in favour of other memory technologies. What alternative memory technologies could we consider?

Thank you,

Best Regards,

Andrea

  • Hi, are there any updates?

Should I try XIP to use only SRAM and Flash and not DDR? Do the Profinet and EthernetIP stacks support it and guarantee correct timing? Would there be any issues with Secure Boot?

    Could there be any alternatives?

    Thank you,

    Best Regards,

    Andrea

  • Hi Andrea, DRAM is necessary in order to get the required performance from code execution.  Flash is non-volatile storage mainly for boot, and SRAM would be way to expensive (and slower) for the densities you need.  If you are considering moving away from DDR4 due to the current shortages, there may be alternative vendors that can supply compatible devices.
