AM6442: AM6442 CPSW3G vs. PRU Ethernet

Part Number: AM6442

Am6442x has two rgmii at CPSW3G in A53 core and also two rgmii interface are available through PRU-ICSSG core.

Could you verify whether if two RGMII interfaces are allocated from CPSW3G, can add one RGMII-1 from PRU-ICSSG core ?

Hi James,

From pin mux perspective, RGMII1 from PRU-ICSS0 is not sharing pins with CPSW, therefore I don't see any issue with your configuration.

Could you verify whether need to have separate MDC/MDIO for PRU ?

Currently have PRG1_MDIO0_MDC/MDIO are shared to CPSW3G RGMII-1 and RGMII-2.

If add RGMII-1 from PRU-ICSSG (Ball number Y7/U8/W8...) which are the same IO group of CPSW3G RGMI-1 & RGMII-2, can the same PRG1_MDIO0/MDC can be shared to all three RGMII 1GE PHY Transceiver ?

Hi James,

The recommendation is to have one MDIO for Ethernet ports and one MDIO for Industrial protocols Ethernet as these are different network stacks in SW.
