MSPM0-SDK: MCAL CAN driver: support of multiple ConfigSets and element variance

Part Number: MSPM0-SDK

Hello,

The MCAL 0.2.5 CAN driver does not support multiple ConfigSets like the Port module does. Also, it does not support support element variance to configure the module for each specific ECU variant on the bus.

Do we have workarounds that would enable such functions?

Best regards,
François.

  • Hi Francois,
We currently don't support this feature, nor do we have a workaround to provide at the moment. Let me get more information on the first question about the ConfigSets feature to see if there is a plan to implement it. The second question regarding how CAN drivers will be supported in our MCAL tool: is it referring to each MCU variant as a separate family or to different packages/types within the family?

    Best Regards,

  • Hi Diego,

Thank you. Did you get any feedback about the ConfigSets feature?

About the element variance, the customer requirement is to support it for CanHardwareObject, CanHwFilterMask, and CanHwFilterCode or having multiple ConfigSets. This would allow the application to avoid acknowledging CAN messages that are not required for specific ECU variants.

    Best regards,
    François.

  • Hi Francois,
My team is still taking this feature under consideration. If the MSP team moves forward with it, it might be something we will be adding post-RTM.
