LP-MSPM0L1306: How to use PA2 on LaunchPad

Part Number: LP-MSPM0L1306
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: MSPM0L1306

Hello.
I am using the LaunchPad to develop a device based on an MSPM0L1306 in the DYY variant (16-pin).
For this, I need PA2 as a digital I/O pin.
However, PA2 is the only pin that is not available on the LaunchPad. Are there any solutions?
Thank you very much.

  • It is being used for Rosc:

  • Keith is correct this pin is normally meant to enable higher accuracy for ROSC, if you would like to know more please reference section 2.3 in the technical reference manual. This resistor is required if the FCL feature is used for higher accuracy, and it is not required if the SYSOSC FCL is not enabled. When the FCL mode is not used, the PA2 pin may be used as a digital input/output pin. If you need that pin to test, as Keith pointed out, R6 can be depopulated and you should be able to reassign PA2.

When you move into creating a schematic for a custom board please make sure to take a look at the typical application section of the data sheet to ensure all of the pins are connected correctly.
