Subject: Guidance Request for Smart Hub Design – AM2434 vs AM2612 and Ethernet Interface

Dear Texas Instruments Team,

We are currently evaluating TI Microcontroller for a Smart Hub product and would appreciate your guidance on selecting the most suitable device between the AM2434 and AM2612.

Our Smart Hub requirements include:

  • Industrial communication and networking

  • Gigabit Ethernet connectivity

  • Multiple peripheral interfaces

  • Real-time control and data processing

  • Long-term scalability for future feature additions

We plan to use the DP83867 Gigabit Ethernet PHY connected through the RGMII interface.

Could you please provide recommendations on the following:

  1. Which device would be more suitable for a Smart Hub architecture: AM2434 or AM2612?

  2. What are the key advantages and trade-offs of each device for networking-centric applications?

  3. Are there any performance considerations when using the DP83867 PHY with the RGMII interface on either device?

  4. Are there reference designs, evaluation boards, or application notes available that demonstrate Gigabit Ethernet implementation with DP83867?

  5. Could you recommend the most appropriate TI processor for a Smart Hub that requires reliable Gigabit Ethernet communication, real-time processing, and future expansion capabilities?

Additionally, we are looking for complete hardware design source files and reference documentation for:

  • LP-AM243 (AM243x LaunchPad)

  • AM261x evaluation platforms

Any recommendations regarding hardware architecture, Ethernet design guidelines, and migration considerations would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you for your support.

Best Regards,
Kunal
