Hi all,

I am using TMS570LS20216 USB development kit. In my implementation, bootloader remains in Flash Bank - 0 and i am using other three banks for application.

When i am doing erase function, it takes nearly 30 secs to flash any of the two banks either flash bank 1 and 2 or flash bank 2 and 3. If it exceeds 30 secs, the loader causes timeout error.

Here, i need to erase the entire flash memory with out modifying the existing loader timeout value.

Is there any other way to implement this?

Hi Gowdham,

Can you please confirm that your bootloader is using the latest F035 Flash API to perform the erase?

Hi Brian,

Yes, I am using the latest F035 API in boot-loader.

I have few more doubts, Is it anyway relates to hardware performance, i mean the life time or number of times erasing the flash. Also, we bought this board four months back.

Hi Brian,

Finally, found the way to increase the erasing rate. As per TMS470/570 Platform F035 Flash API Reference Guide Version 1.05

"If the bank has already been determined to be blank using Flash_Blank_B prior to erase, the status->stat1 element can be initialized to 0x12345678 prior to calling Flash_Erase_Bank_B to disable preconditioning and speed up erase. Non-blank banks by default should have the value of status->stat1 initialized to 0x00000000 (or some value other than 0x12345678) to make sure preconditioning is enabled during erase."

made the modification and now flashing process happened quickly.
