AM2612: How to use TCM

Hi Ted,

TCM is tightly coupled memory that comes with the ARM CPU Sub-system itself. AM2612 has 256KB Tightly Coupled Memory (TCM) with 32- bit ECC per core.

From ARM R5F perspective, it is a zero wait state memory, which means the reads/writes can happen in 1 CPU Cycle since it is physically located directly next to the processor core, bypassing the system bus entirely. This eliminates bus contention (traffic jams with other peripheral)

What should be placed in the TCM depends on the application. If the important parts of the code that are frequently accessed, and low latency access is needed for those, those can be placed in TCM. If not known, The MCU_PLUS_SDK offers a tool called smart placement tool, which can help you figure out the functions that should be placed in your TCM regions.
