AM6442: AM64x Linux-RT ,I cant find realtime file

Part Number: AM6442

Dear Ti engineer

https://software-dl.ti.com/processor-sdk-linux/esd/AM62X/latest/exports/docs/linux/How_to_Guides/Target/How_to_Tune_Real_Time_Linux.html#disable-unnecessary-drivers

4.1.12.2

cat /sys/kernel/realtime

According to the link

The command says it can find the file(realtime), but it says it doesn't exist for me. Did I install the Linux SDK incorrectly?

----------------------------------------------------------
root@am64xx-evm:~# cat /sys/kernel/realtime
cat: /sys/kernel/realtime: No such file or directory

-----------------------------------------------------------

my boot message here:

Starting kernel ...

  • Hello Lee,

Your kernel line confirms that you are using the RT-configured kernel:

    Linux version 6.18.13-ti-rt-00778-gc21449208550-dirty (oe-user@oe-host) (aarch64-oe-linux-gcc (GCC) 15.2.0, GNU ld (GNU Binutils) 2.46) #1 SMP PREEMPT_RT Thu Mar 26 20:21:19 UTC 2026

    These parts:
    Linux version 6.18.13-ti-rt
    PREEMPT_RT

It looks like that indicator /sys/kernel/realtime was used back when RT Linux was a separate patchset that was applied on top of mainline Linux. However, when RT Linux for 64-bit processors was merged into mainline Linux starting in Linux kernel 6.12, it looks like /sys/kernel/realtime was not mainlined. That page was written with an earlier version of RT Linux (probably kernel 6.1 or 6.6).

Thanks for the report. I'll double-check with one of our developers, and file a bug against the doc since that information seems to be out-of-date.

    Regards,

    Nick
