AM263P4-Q1: Uniflash Tool Issue while flashing the image

Part Number: AM263P4-Q1
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: UNIFLASH

Hi TI Team,

We are working on flashing the application image via Uniflash tool by using the JTAG debugger, while loading the image we are facing the below issue as attached.

where as it is working when we use SBL JTAG Uniflash example project in debug mode from CCS studio.

We are using
Uniflash Tool (Version: 9.6.0.5764)
controller - AM263Px F-variant.

Thanks,
Shilpa G

  • Hi Team,
Could you please help us understand the reason for this particular error in uniflash.

For AM263P, we tried to flash using non uniflash tools and it works. Just when using uniflash 9.6.0 version, customer is getting this error.

Could you please us understand what is the tool trying to convey here and why it happens?

    Thanks & Regards,

    Aswin

  • Hi Shilpa, Aswin,

We are looking at this issue, and will report back as soon as we are done investigating.

    Thanks,

    Ricky

  • Hi Ricky,

We are still waiting for the solution for the issues we have posted.

    Best Regards,
    Shilpa

  • Shilpa,

I'm very sorry for the delayed reply while we investigated the issue.

The failure is on the target side, when running the am263px_sip_flasher.out flashing algorithm, so it is not easy to reproduce.

Can you clarify these 2 statements, and what they mean?

       1. "it is working when we use SBL JTAG Uniflash example project in debug mode from CCS studio."

       2. "we tried to flash using non uniflash tools and it works"

Can you provide more information on how you are loading the flash in CCS?

    Thanks,

    Ricky

  • Hi Ricky,

I can help with the information.

       1. "it is working when we use SBL JTAG Uniflash example project in debug mode from CCS studio."

This is a flashing solution provided by the MCU+SDK AM263P. It is a ccs based project which can be used to burn images into the external flash with the help of JTAG.

This is the documentation of the tool:

    https://software-dl.ti.com/mcu-plus-sdk/esd/AM263PX/26_01_00_08/exports/docs/api_guide_am263px/EXAMPLES_DRIVERS_SBL_JTAG_UNIFLASH.html

This is not based on UniFlash. But if my understanding is correct, it uses the DSS scripts and scripting console to communicate with the target

       2. "we tried to flash using non uniflash tools and it works"

This basically means tools like SBL JTAG Uniflash which I mentioned earlier and UART based flashing tools.

    Thanks & Regards,

    Aswin

  • Hi Aswin, Shilpa,

Based on the message in the console, it looks like a timeout error occurred. UniFlash engineering looked into this an mentioned that there is a default 20 second timeout. Based on the timestamps of the messages, it looks like it hit that 20 second timeout. One thing to try is to increase the timeout to see if this helps. You can do this by explicitly setting the timeout to a larger value. You can do this from the UniFlash command line (dslite) with the FlashTimeoutValue setting.

    Example:

    -s FlashTimeoutValue = 120

That would increase the timeout value to 2 minutes. Can you give this a try a see if this helps?

    Thanks
