Part Number: AM2432
Hello,
Following on the questions presented in https://e2e.ti.com/support/power-management-group/power-management/f/power-management-forum/1656639/am2434-clarifications-on-udma-initialization-and-pka-usage-for-digital-signature-verification/6389002 , my colleagues and I have some more questions:
- Although the post answer for question 1 says UDMA (more specifically, pktDMA) is necessary, we were able to interact with PKA without using it, writing directly to its memory space after unlocking it in the firewall settings. How did this work and why would we need to perform these actions via DMA if the commands are emitted through direct input registers and does not reference the ring accelerator queues from SA2UL?"
- We understand, for questions 2-3, that PKA firmware runs in its program RAM. However, SPRIUL3B mentions a "Program ROM" in the description of registers PKA_FUNCTION and PKA_SEQ_CTRL. Is this ROM available in the AM243x SA2UL?
- Could you please also clarify where the referenced .vhx release used for the sequencer (PKA) firmware upload operation, as described in Section 2.9.7.5 [2.9.7.5] of SPRIUL3B, can be obtained? Additionally, are release notes or a change log available for the PKA firmware so that we can assess the scope of potential future updates?
- For questions 4-5, we understand that, like the DMSC firmware, we are not supposed to access or modify the PKA firmware. However, just like DMSC, we need some knowledge of the functionality implemented by this firmware for certification purposes, as we intend to adopt the AM243x in safety-critical applications.
