AM2434: ADC accuracy

Hi,

the resolution of the ADC in the ALX package is specfied with typ. 10 Bit, whereas the ALV package is specified with 12 Bits.

For both packages gain error is specified with +/-10 LSB, offset error with +/-5 LSB.

If I assume that the LSB values refer to the respective resolutions, I conclude that the ADC in the ALX package is four times less accurate than the ADC in the ALV package.

Is that correct?

Resolution is not equal to accuracy.

The accuracy of the voltage reference is more important.

Hello Ludwin,

The ADC gain and offset error specifications for the AM243x ALX and ALV packages are based on their respective 10-bit and 12-bit resolutions.

Therefore, assuming the same ADC input voltage range, the specified gain and offset errors correspond to four times larger voltage errors for the ALX package. However, this does not necessarily mean the ADC is four times less accurate overall, as other factors can also contribute to ADC accuracy.
