MSPM0G5187: MCLK = 80 MHz

Part Number: MSPM0G5187
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: SYSCONFIG

Dear Support:

I have imported different projects into my CCS workspace using v21 and running on my MSPM0G5187 LP.  All works fine amongst the different projects, but one has the MCLK @ 80 MHz and another has the MCLK @ 32 MHz.  And I can't find the differences in the .syscfg file as to how to change this MCLK from 32 to 80.  So how do you do this with the .syscfg file so that I can have these different projects running at the same frequency?  Please advise.

Thanks,
Tim

  • Hi, to change the MCLK frequency, you just need to adjust the Clock tree configuration within Sysconfig.

    1. Open sysconfig
    2. Go to the SYSCTL module
    3. Change the clock source to PLL or HFCLK
    4. Trace the path from source to MCLK output
    5. Save and rebuild your project (both files are generated by sysconfig) to generate the updated ti_msp_dl_config.c and .h files

  • The clock tree is probably easiest. I think a picture shows it better

  • Hey Janani - thanks for your response, but when I go to the SYSCTL module, all the dropdown items are grayed out and I can't change them - hence the problem.  Do you know how to disable this so they allow me to select different sources for the clocks?

Hey Keith - this wasn't trivial, but by playing around with different selection items, I was able to get it to work.  I'd prefer to do this with a few drop down selections from the SYSCTL module.  This clock tree is fairly complicated and wasn't intuitively obvious what to change, but I found something that works so I can run at max speed now - thanks!

    Thanks,
    Tim

  • Everything was grey because you probably have "use clock tree" selected.

  • Oh, so it's an either/or option - makes sense now.

    Thanks,
    Tim
