AM263P4-Q1: Output Slew Control

Part Number: AM263P4-Q1

What are the quantitative differences between setting a pad to fast and slow slew? have not seen clear specs in the datasheet, trm, or the register addenum.

Specifically wondering for PRU GPO, EPWM, and SPI outputs.

Is drive strenght current, or output load capacitence affected?

Thank you, and have a nice day.

  • Hi Ilan,

Unfortunately, we haven't characterised the difference between fast and slow slew settings of the IO pads in AM263Px. It is a configuration for the user to use ensuring to meet the output load capacitance mentioned in Section 6.11.5 Peripherals of the AM263Px datasheet and would have to be met based on the receiver side's slew rate requirement, since there can be a large number of output capacitance values.

For some of the values, I would suggest referring to the IBIS model available in https://www.ti.com/product/AM263P4#design-tools-simulation Design Tools and Simulations section of the datasheet.

    Thanks,

  • Got it, I still have a few questions,

will this characterizing be done in the future?

how is "Output Load Capacitance", Cl, defined?

I do not currently have an accessible platform to load and simulate IBIS models. Before making an effort or purchase for such a platform, kindly clarify if the IBIS model can be used for HIGH and LOW output slew speeds.

Is there a program you recommend for working with the IBIS model?

    Thank you,

    Ilan M.
