AM3352: AM3352BZCZD80 communication issue.

Expert 2350 points

Part Number: AM3352

Hi Team,

use AM3352BZCZD80+ KIOXIA THGBMTG5D1LBAIL(emmc).

The preliminary conclusion after testing is that the/etc/systemd directory in the file system is missing and the client application execution permissions are missing for devices that cannot be started by the system.
It was found that 0x00 is an undefined value, and it is suspected that there is a problem with the EMMC chip causing the loss of system files. At the same time, it has been confirmed that the system files have not been deleted.
Help evaluate what the reason is.

  • Hi Reed Liu,

Thank you for your query !

I have discussed on the issue with the AM335x eMMC software team. We need additional information, as folows:

Q1. How do you perform the eMMC flashing ?

Q2. Does the writing process report any eMMC WRITE failure ?

Q3. On which AM3352 MMCSD physical port is your KIOXIA THGBMTG5D1LBAIL eMMC  flash memory attached - MMC1 or MMC0 ?

I am asking because I have seen that some systems are reporting mmc0 as mmc1, mmc1 as mmc2 (i.e. follow index + 1 logic)

Q4. What is the kernel version used on the AM3352 ? Can you please provide the kernel boot log ?

Q5. Would you please provide the eMMC hardware interface portion of your custom design schematic so I can check vs the TI AM335x EVM reference design ?

If you can not share here, please provide per the private E2E chat.

Q6. Does the issue happen in every boot ? On how many boards is the issue reproduced ?

Looking forward to your answers !

    Best Regards,

    Anastas

  • Hi Anastas,

    Thank you for your reply,
After applying the following patch according to customer feedback, the problem was resolved:
    Patch: [2/2] arm: mach-omap2: am33xx: check VTP before reinitarizing<br/>Download link: patchwork.ozlabs.org/.../20260624-335-ddr-cke-delay-v1-2-21d65d40a83f @ti.com/
Is this patch from TI? If it's not from TI, is this patch reliable?

I will communicate with the client again regarding the information you replied to.
