MSPM0G3519: ECC detected for FEE Dataflash region

Part Number: MSPM0G3519

Hello all,

I have encountered an ECC double bit error in the dataflash region which is causing continous reset.

I noticed a statement in the FEE User Guide: "The system integrator shall add hooks into the NMI handler to ignore any NMI faults generated from the regions dedicated to the FEE module. NMI can happen on reset scenarios when the FEE algorithm attempts to read some corrupted ECC flash region"

  • Does this mean TI recommends disabling or ignoring ECC errors for the FEE region?
  • What is the risk of keeping it enabled? Is the ECC reporting misleading errors in the dataflash (FEE) region?
  • Is disabling the configuration "FEE_USE_ECC_ADDRESS_SPACE" enough or there are other errors which trigger NMI handler that are recommended to ignore/disable (ex: RAM ECC)?
  • Regarding the ECC double bit detected on an ECU, is this considered a real error or a fake one and CRC check is enough for the the Fee blocks.
  • Hi Rana,
I believe this is being handled in an already ongoing email thread. However, I'll reply here as well once there is a response from my device's expert.

  • Hi Rana,

The developer of the FEE module is out this week. In the meantime, please see some inputs.

A FLASHDED NMI indicates an actual uncorrectable ECC mismatch, typically caused by an interrupted/partial write, programming without valid ECC, incorrect MCAL write handling, or flash corruption.

A FLASHDED NMI generates a system reset depending on the FLASHECCRSTDIS setting. The recommendation is thus to disable this reset source so that the NMI will be taken. The NMI handler should then check the source of the NMI and ignore it if FLASHDED happened during an FEE operation.

Please verify that the AUTOSAR FLS driver uses 64-bit-aligned programming with hardware-generated ECC and never allows FEE to read a word before its data and ECC programming are complete.

    Best regards,
    François.
