Error connecting to the target (Error -183 @ 0x0)

We have two TMS570 MDKs.

The IDE is Code Composer Studio V4, and the emulator is the onboard xds100v2 USB emulator.

On one of them, I can load a test program code into the EVB. But, On the other one, there is a trouble occureed.

The error informaiton is the following:

Error connecting to the target:
(Error -183 @ 0x0)
The controller has detected a cable break far-from itself.
The user must connect the cable/pod to the target.
(Release 5.0.333.0)

Please, how to solve this trouble?

  • Hi Kevin,

I have forwarded your query to the corresponding team.

    Some Quick Checks

    1) Is there any jumper / switch setting difference between these two boards? - There should be no difference if you have not touched any, just checking.
    2) Are the 2 boards connected to the PC or only one is connected at a time?
    3) Was the same cable used to connect the MDK which is working? - Trying to see if there is a cable fault?

    Best  Regards

  • Hi Prathap,

    1.  Both boards are the same. There is no difference in the jumper or swithc setting.

    2. Our environment is one PC with one board connected. But sometimes, we need two boards connected to one PC.

We know the serial number of two boards should be different when using two board with CCSV4.

And the serial number of two boards can be altered by MProg 3.5.

    3.  Both USB cables are workable. I have tested them.

Both emulators are recognized as a USB Composite Device. Each has one TI XDS100 Channel A,  one TI XDS100 Channel B, and one COM port.

MProg 3.5 can scan and parse two emulators.

The "fine" board can download code with CCSV4, but the trouble borad can not.
