Samples of stellaris cortex M4

Hi,

Has any of you managed to obtain samples of the new cortex M4 stellaris series? I tried with mouser but my order was canceled after two weeks of waiting. I need some lm4f231h5qr for my robot project, and if I can't obtain them I will be forced to redesign my board to use another micro.

  • Availability of such new parts always a potential issue - 64 pin device you've chosen has not made it to any Eval boards - to my knowledge.  The larger, sister device - LM4F232H5QR - is packaged on TI's M4 Eval board.  (and appears available in that form)   While not your preferred solution - you could use the unmodified M4 Eval board or - should that be too large physically - you could reflow that larger MCU and apply it to your redesigned robot board.

  • Thomas, the LM4F231H5QR is scheduled for full production release at the end of May. Samples may be available at the present time (as the LX4F231H5QR), but you will need to complete a waiver that acknowledges you are accepting the part as a device released in samples only at this time. I would suggest that you contact Mouser again (or a different distributor, such as Arrow or Digi-Key) and inquire about their availability and lead time. You might also contact your local TI sales office and inquire about pre-ordering the production release version. Good luck!
