Hello,

I was told to post my problem here by the Digital Applications Team.

Using the Hercules Safety MCU Demo v2.0 on the RM48 USB Development Kit I cannot get the CAN bus demo to work.

On the third setup screen during the CAN demo no information is shown and the only course of action is to click Next.

The demo is hooked up to a Kvaser Leaf Light and the computer is running a candemo made by Kvaser. No information is looped back from the development kit when transmitted to, nothing is received by the computer, nor does any data show up in the white table on the demo when transmitted to.

We have tried multiple computers and cables all with the same result.

Suggestions on how to proceed?

I meet the same problem , and i also use RM48 USB kit and Kvaser Leaf.

but when i use RM48LHDK to evaluate CAN module, the CAN module work well,

so i think that RM48 USB kit hardware or example have some bug.

Jianwei,

Did you then retry the USB kit with the working code?

What code did you use the get the HDK to work?

I don't retry the usb kit.

I use HALCoGen v3.01.01 to generate init code , manual modify some special configuration register according to RM48Lx50 TRM .

in e2e forum , you can find example code that posted by TI engineer.

The CAN Demo Software is expecting to us the CAN Extended Identifier. (29bits and not 11 bits)

Also, the identifier recognized are 1 to 64.

I did a basic test sending a message with ID=1 and it was correctly received by the Demo Software.

Please make a try with this configuration and let me know.

Jean-Marc,

Yes, that was exactly it. Once I changed my kvaser program to use Extended Identifiers then it worked (ie, messages showed up in the white table). What is supposed to be seen on the third screen?

This also solved another issue we were having on a board we're developing using the same chip (PGE version), though I'm still having a problem with my second CAN port. Should I continue the post or start a new one?
