Implementing EtherCAT on Hercules platform

Hi,

We are focused on implementing Ethercat protocol on Hercules platform powered board which will be connected in mixed (star and ring) topology. According to my limited knowledge, Ethercat protocol could be implemented by using 1 ethernet port if it is used only with star topology, 2 ethernet ports if it is used whether in star or ring topology, 3 ethernet ports if it is used in mixed (star and/or ring) topology. If I'm not wrong, then we need 3 ethernet ports but RM48L952 has only one ethernet port. So, there is a problem.

We are considering using Hercules with http://www.beckhoff.com/english.asp?ethercat/et1100_et1200.htm or Sitara platform instead of Hercules platform. Safety is the most important feature for us.

Is there any suggestions?

Hello,

I also working on a project about safety (regarding IEC 61508). We try to implement security on an embedded board which communicate which motor drivers on Safety over EtherCat.

Does it exist a way to implement on Hercules this bus?

NO. We don't have a device capable of EtherCat in the near future.
