high speed digital patterns using GIO and NHET pins

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: RM48L950

Hello all,

I have a TMDXRM48USB (RM48L950) and am trying to generate digital patterns using GIO and NHET.

Is it possible to generate a 50MHz clock pattern using either a GIO or NHET pin? I was able to generate

a clock pattern of ~3.8MHz.

  • Hello EK,

Unfortunately, due to the way that NHET works, you will not be able to reach this clock rate with NHET. Also, it would not be recommended to use a GIO since the GIO output is would be purely a SW controlled signal and subject to latency from interrupts and such.

Is it possible for you to use ECLK for this? Note you may need to adjust your system clock rate to a rate that divides down to 48MHz for this and there could be some slewing of the edges due to the output buffer response limitation.

Also, one thing to be aware of is the impact on EMI from driving this type of signal out of the device.
