XDS100v2 USB Emulator ((Error -2131 @ 0x0)

The first step is to be sure all drivers are installed correctly.

Here is a screen shot of the control panel/device manager under windows7.

Under USB controller, you should see 2 entries for TI XDS100 Channel A and B
Under Ports, you should have USB Serial Port (COMxx). Your COM number may be different than mine.

Please check this and let me know.

The XDS100v2 drivers are installed on my machine.

But I'm still getting this error after I launched the Debug Session.

I'm using  TMDX570LS20SUSB  and Code Composer Version 4.2.3.00004.

Is there any reason to use CCS4?

CCS5.2.1 is available for download from:
http://processors.wiki.ti.com/index.php/Download_CCS

This newer release supports more micro controller and development board from our Hercules family including  TMDX570LS20SUSB

I recommend to upgrade to this release.

The development kit we bought a year ago is bundled with the CCS4 software, so that's the reason I'm using it. 

May I know what are the changes made from CCS4 to CCS5 that may solve the issue I'm encountering now?

CCS4 supports this device.

My point here, instead of debugging an old version of CCS, I think it makes more sense to install the latest version.

On our Hercules website, you will find all the latest software releases.

I've created a basic test project using Halcogen.
This basic test is running on TMS570LS20 and will run on your TMDX570LS20SUSB

You can download this code by clicking on 1452.Basic_Test.zip

To import this test in CCS5.2.1, start CCS and select Project-Import Existing CCS Eclipse Project.
Select the directory where the zip file has been extracted (Basic_Test)
Select View-Target Configuration and right click on configuration file has shown below.

Click on launch Selected Configuration.

Now in the debug window, connect to the target as shown below.

At that stage, you should be connected to the device and ready to debug.

If you face any issue during these steps, please let me know.

I could not import the project in CCS Version: 5.2.1.00018.

It gave me the following error:

I went to Window->Preferences->Code Composer Studio->Build->Compilers to verify the installation of TMS570's compiler. It's already installed but I'm wondering why I am still getting the above error.

Sorry about this problem.

On my setup, I have some Alpha version of the compiler.

Please download and replace in the project the following file:

http://e2e.ti.com/cfs-file.ashx/__key/communityserver-discussions-components-files/312/3302_2E00_.ccsproject

This should allow you to import the project.

I still got the same error using 3302..ccsproject

Yes, I can't import the project. I got the same error as before. 

I'm currently in Australia.

Note: I only got this error in one of my TMS570 boards. I got 3 boards. 2 boards are working fine, so I'm guessing it might be a hardware problem. Is there a way I can verify that the error is because of hardware problem?

If 2 boards are working in your environment and 1 is not, It is an hardware problem.

Let me check the procedure to have this board replaced.

Hello,

I have the same issue on a different platform.

We have designed a custom board based on TMS320F28035, the device sends out data on SCIA port and we have connected the output through RS232 port to a PC running Teraterm or Hyperterminal.

On the same PC we run Code Composer Studio V6.0.1 to connect to device for debugging.

While the device is running and Teraterm is open, starting a debug session will result the above error.

If we close the Teraterm or hyperterminal, debug session will start properly.

Other specs to mention:

Computer: Toshiba Tecra A11 with built-in COM port (no USB to serial and no VCP driver)

OS: Windows 7 x64

Jtag Emulator: XDS100V2 TI
