Future of Hercules MCUs

Dear TI Community,

I have a question on future products within the Hercules MCU family. For instance, does TI plan to release faster speed Hercules MCUs? Maybe based on the new ARM cortex-R5 instead of R4. If so, can I get a rough idea of the speed range ? What is the timeline ?

I am aware that there is plan to develop new MCUs with more peripherals and memory, as described below

http://www.ti.com/lit/wp/spry178/spry178.pdf    (page 2)

However, there is no mention about faster specs Hercules MCUs

I am asking this because we may need more computational power in future products. I want to make sure that Hercules is future proof.

I understand that this could be a sensitive question for TI, but I want to get a feel on TI's future plans as the future of our product will depend on it.

Many Thanks !

Christopher

  • Hello Christopher,

You can expect that TI's roadmap for Hercules products includes expansion on the higher performance vector.  As this is not public information, you are correct that it is a sensitive question.  My suggestion would be to get in touch with your local TI sales office and request a Non-disclosure Agreement between TI and your company.  Under that protection we can more freely share sensitive information with each other.

If requesting an NDA becomes problematic, feel free to re-post to this thread and we will try to help you.

  • Hi Brian,

Thank you for the reply. I will try to contact Singapore sales office or TI local distributor.

    Many Thanks!
